The project is the concept design of an executive office of a glass factory which imports technologies from developed countries to Vietnam to produce high quality products. The site is a part of the masterplan of the factory which was in planning of that phase. Functions of the house were required to be quite simple in which three floors serve almost office works. The need of usable function may include conference but at the first step of schematic design, it was considered as part of office area, correspondingly the plans in this presentation do not describe that. There is one office on the 1st floor of which the area is not so large, which is the administration to get in touch with customers and workers, and in case there are many workers, a yard with trees as the foyer, also the recess area, is planned near here which is at the right of the office, for waiting and relaxing. This office area includes only closed functions at the 1st storey, while all the rest of this floor is intended to be free, as the open flexible floor, where people can set up multifunctions such as organizing meetings or exhibitions.

It was a little confused when the clients requested the architects how to expose a few big glass faces to advertise for their brand. On another aspect, we understand that the exposure so much glass panels uncarefully in a tropical region will cause some pressure to people around. But it is just part of a bigger trouble which is, nowadays the misusage of glasses in tropical countries including Vietnam might increase up to alarming level; even so, without rules and control yet. Not only that, the trend of using glass is spreading in residential community, continues increasing the need of buying and supplying. These are the first simple causes contributing to create negative impacts on our living, in which there is a clear- terrible-trouble and keeps going back and forth, which is climate change.

Initially, we have imagined the future building would have many glazings at the front like big glass buildings in cold countries. It doesn’t mean this intention was fully wrong, if we could improve it well in a tropical context. However, this presentation expresses another concept that we would rather, and it was developed to be the schematic document. The concept has a central glass box surrounded by concrete frames, and these large glazings cover the inner garden.

Along with that, double-skin is the solution for covered-walls, is aiming to obtain the unmissable efficiency, in either preventing or reducing unexpected affects from outside.
